First impression counts: Only a few seconds decide on whether a user keeps on exploring new software or if he or she quits. The design of the user interface plays an important role and needs to be well thought out; in particular, start page, navigation and textual descriptions should be comprehensible and self-explanatory. In a user study we investigated how well BExIS2 meets state-of-the-art usability criteria and how an improved interface could look like. We are going to present the results of a heuristic evaluation and would like to discuss the outcome with the audience.
